I absolutely love any opportunity to celebrate! Last weekend, we did just that, with the help of a book that a very good friend of mine has just published. This isn’t just an ordinary book… so I had to share it with you! It is all about creating memories and bringing the family together around the dinner table. It is not a cookbook, so it’s not all about the food, it is full of wonderful themed ideas to have fun as a family around the normal meals you would cook for your family. I would like to share our first fun dinner we had together. Celebrate …just because! By Mimi B book is available as a printed book or an e-book. A small investment into family fun and perfect as a gift!
“Celebrate…just because! is a book for any parent who wants to bring FUN to the dinner table! Once a month surprise (and shock!) your children with a random, crazy, yet meaningful meal time. Designed for families (young at heart parents and kids between the ages of 5-12 years) to celebrate anything and everything…just because, the family dinner table becomes the centre of laughter, conversations and silliness!
In this busy, expensive, chaotic world we live in, now is the time to gather the family around the dinner table, create amazing memories and celebrate…just because! “
Jimmy and I decided to surprise our kids last Saturday night and have fun doing a special dinner for them from the book. We chose the Back-To-Front Dinner. We had the table cutlery set back-to-front, ate dessert first and we even made everyone turn their clothes back-to front! The adults ate off kids plates and the kids ate off nice china plates. There were fits of giggles over daddy eating off a Barbie plate! We wrote a special encouraging note for each of them to open at the end of dinner that was printed out backwards and required a mirror to read it. It was great watching them trying to decipher it until I produced a mirror from under the table decoration to make it easier. The response to the whole dinner was priceless and we had so much fun as a family! Telling the kids that they couldn’t have dinner until they had eaten all their dessert was a classic!
I didn’t make anything overly special for the meal, and it was so nice that the food wasn’t the focus with all the usual grumblings that kids can have associated at meal times. We had “Pear and Cashew Dessert” from the Thermomix “Gluten Free Wheat Free Cookbook” with ice cream topped with marshmallows and honeycombe syrup. The main meal was something quick and easy, my Beef stir fry with Udon Noodles.
The whole special dinner experience was a lot of fun and the kids are now asking when we are going to do our next themed fun dinner. It is hard to choose which one to do next!
How beautiful, thanks for sharing….
